Rhode Island Men's Soccer Picked Fourth in Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll

Rams open the season at the UNH Nike Classic, Aug. 29-31


PHILADELPHIA - The Rhode Island men's soccer team was picked to finish fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference, in voting conducted among the league's head coaches.

The Rams return 14 players from last season's squad, which finished 9-8-2 overall and 7-1-1 in conference play.

Saint Louis was tabbed the preseason favorite, followed by 2007 NCAA Semifinalist Massachusetts and Charlotte.

Rhode Island kicks off the 2008 campaign at the UNH Nike Classic, Aug. 29-31. The Rams will face Maine on Friday the 29th at 2:30 p.m. before taking on host New Hampshire, Sunday at 3 p.m. URI opens its home slate on Friday, Sept. 12 when it hosts Albany at 7 p.m.
