Fever Trades Alison Bales To Atlanta For 6-2 Forward Kristen Mann
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Fever center Alison Bales has been traded to the Atlanta Dream, in exchange for four-year veteran Kristen Mann. Mann, a 6-2 forward who was chosen by the Dream in the 2008 Expansion Draft, was originally a first-round pick (11th overall) of the Minnesota Lynx in 2005. The former Big West Conference Player of the Year out of UC Santa Barbara, Mann averaged career highs of 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game with the Lynx last season. She was a 33-game starter in her second pro season in 2006, and a 17-game starter in 2007. Currently averaging 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds through 13 games and eight starts with the Dream, she is expected to fill a reserve roll behind Fever power forward Ebony Hoffman. Bales, a 6-7 center from Duke and the Fever’s top draft pick in 2007, has played sparingly in two seasons in Indiana. She averaged 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds during her rookie season, and 2.6 points and 1.6 rebounds through 14 games this season. The Fever, 8-8, hosts the Connecticut Sun at Conseco Fieldhouse on Saturday evening (7:00 p.m.). Led by WNBA All-Stars Tamika Catchings, Katie Douglas and Tammy Sutton-Brown, the Fever bids for its first WNBA Finals appearance after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in two of the past three seasons. Tickets are available at FeverBasketball.com. |
