Senior captain David Tyrie scored twice, while fellow senior captain Yan Klukowski tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Central Connecticut men's soccer team to a victory over Siena on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils rallied from a 2-0 deficit early in the second half to defeat the Saints on a game winning header by Tyrie in the first overtime period.

The first period saw many chances for both sides, but it wasn't until Siena junior Robert DiFillipo entered the game that either team got on the board. Freshman Matt Turcio struck a ball that went off the left post and DiFillipo finished the rebound only a couple of minutes after entering the game for the first time. The goal marked the forward's team leading, second of the season.

The Saints led 1-0 at the half, but the two squads were even at eight shots a piece. CCSU led in corner kicks by a mark of two to zero.

Less than five minutes into the second half Siena increased its lead to two when sophomore Sebastien Anzevui played a ball into the box that tipped off of CCSU goalkeeper Paul Armstrong. Turcio was the one that got on the end of this play as he finished from two feet in front of the net.

Well into the 65th minute, Central junior Hadji Diop was taken down by a defender in the box and the Blue Devils were awarded a penalty kick. Klukowski stepped up to the line and fired it easily passed Siena goalkeeper Steve Skonieczny to bring CCSU within one. The senior midfielder now leads the Blue Devils with five goals this season.

Klukowski's goal got Central fired up and the Blue Devils were recording many great scoring opportunities late in the second half. With eight minutes to play in the game, junior Eddie Floyd played a long ball up the left side to Tyrie. The senior defender took a few strides up the side and then finished low into the right side netting to tie the game 2-2.

The Blue Devils came out hard in the overtime period and collected two corner kicks in the first minute. On the second, Tyrie headed in a long outswinging ball from Klukowski to defeat the Saints, 3-2. Tyrie, as a defender, now has three goals on the season.

Central Connecticut is now 5-2-1 on the season and will be hosting Bryant on Wednesday October 1 at 3:30 p.m. Siena falls to 1-5-1 and will next be on the road against Rhode Island on Friday October 3 at 7:00 p.m.
