UConn Football Enters National Polls for the First Time This Season
STORRS, Conn. (Sept. 28, 2008) – The University of Connecticut football team entered the national polls for the first time this season on Sunday earning the No. 24 spot in the Associated Press writers’ poll and at No. 23 in the USA Today coaches’ poll. UConn is 5-0 on the season and is coming off a 26-21 win at Louisville on Friday night. The Huskies return to action this Saturday, Oct. 4 when they travel to North Carolina for their final non-conference regular season game. It was announced on Sunday that the contest will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The Huskies made their first-ever appearance in the national rankings during the 2007 season as UConn appeared in the AP poll for four weeks and the USA Today poll in three weeks. UConn’s high ranking was in the Nov. 4 polls at No. 16 in both of them. |
