Houston to Host Basketball Hall of Famer Lynette Woodard’s Inaugural Legend All-Star Charity Weekend Classic

and The Lynette Woodard Youth Sports & Education Foundation™.


HOUSTON – Tickets for Houston’s first ever women’s Legends All-Star Charity Basketball game are now on sale at www.legendallstars.net, as Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Lynette Woodard announce plans for the first ever Lynette Woodard Legend All-Star Charity Weekend Classic.

The weekend will feature a series of festive and educational events and is expected to raise enough money to meet the primary goal of awarding four one thousand dollar scholarships to middle school & high school girls. Lynette will host this event in Houston, Texas, starting Aug 8-10, 2008. The event lineup includes a Meet & Greet Mixer, a Kid’s Basketball Clinic, a Q & A for adult fans, an Olympic viewing party, a post game party and an All-Star Charity Basketball Game, that will feature fun and entertaining competition between the Houston Jaguars and Lynette Woodard’s Lady Legends as the showcase event at Barnett Field House on August 9 at 5:00 P.M.

The showcase event will feature former Houston Comet stars Cynthia Cooper & Fran Harris, future Hall of Famers Teresa Weatherspoon and Kym Hampton, former WNBA All-Stars Nykesha Sales, Chamique Holdsclaw and Andrea Stinson, 2-Time Olympian Ruthie Bolton and women’s basketball legend and Hall of Famer Lynette Woodard.

This historic game is the first of its kind for women’s professional basketball. It will showcase the finest in women’s basketball entertainment and will have fans on the edge of their seats as Hall of Famer Lynette Woodard and former women’s basketball legends, all-stars and Olympians tip off at Barnett Field House. Game tickets start at $10. With the purchase of a game ticket fans are eligible to participate in the pre-game activities scheduled from 11:30 am –1:30 pm, Aug 9, 2008. Proceeds from the Lynette Woodard Legend All-Star Charity game will benefit youth in the Houston community through the Lynette Woodard Youth Sports & Education Foundation.

The Lynette Woodard Youth Basketball Academy will present a clinic for kids that incorporate basketball skill development with life skill principles. Kids who participate will have an opportunity to learn basketball skills from Lynette, members of the Lynette’s Lady Legends All-Star team, the Houston Jaguars and area coaches. The clinic takes place on the floor of Barnett Field House on Aug 9, 2008 beginning at 11:30 am and is open to youth ages 5-18.

The Lynette Woodard Youth Sports & Education Foundation celebrates a historic & groundbreaking year as it launches its capital campaign to help further the educational aspirations of girls through the Lynette Woodard Power Forward Scholarship. The Lynette Woodard Youth Sports & Education Foundation is committed to giving youth a sporting chance to become dream achievers.
