PHOENIX – As part of Inspiring Women Night at US Airways Center, four Valley women were honored during tonight’s Phoenix Mercury home game against the Sacramento Monarchs. Ali Vincent, winner of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” was named the Mercury’s 2008 Inspiring Woman of the Year. Governor Janet Napolitano was in attendance for the evening, acting as honorary coach for the Mercury.

The four award winners, Brenda Combs from Grand Canyon University, Marge Ebeling of the WellCare Foundation, Gabbi Martin of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Adriana Delgado, Boys & Girls Club, were selected out of numerous nominations for their outstanding community outreach efforts. Breast cancer survivors and Habitat for Humanity women build volunteers were also honored as part of Inspiring Women night.

Inspiring Women is a WNBA platform which recognizes women for inspiring others through commitment and dedication to work, family and community. In 2007 the Phoenix Mercury honored Robin Roberts of Good Morning America and Lisa Love, Arizona State University Athletic Director.

Tickets for the final 2008 regular-season game held Sunday, September 7, are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.phoenixmercury.com, by phone at 602.252.WNBA, at the US Airways Center box office and at all Ticketmaster locations.
