ATLANTA, Ga. (August 19, 2008) – Senior Kia Vaughn (Bronx, N.Y.) and junior Epiphanny Prince (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were named to the 2008-09 preseason "Wade Watch" list for the State Farm Wade Trophy Division I Player of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday.

The 25-member list is made up of top Division I student-athletes who best embody the spirit of Lily Margaret Wade according to the following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team and overall playing ability.

Vaughn, a BIG EAST second team honoree last season, led the Scarlet Knights in rebounding (8.3 rpg) for the third straight year. The Bronx, N.Y. product also topped the team in field goal percentage while ranking fourth on the team in scoring with 10.0 points per contest.

The center saw her best numbers come in the post-season, averaging 14.8 points with a 70.6 percent shooting effort from the field in four games.

Vaughn, who entered RU’s 1,000-point club in the last contest of the year in 2007-08, ranks in several all-time categories in the Scarlet Knights’ record book. She is one of just six players in RU history to tally more than 1,000 points and grab 800 rebounds in a career.

In addition to 2007-08 All-BIG EAST first team honors, Prince was also tabbed the league’s Most Improved Player last season.

The guard led the Scarlet Knights in scoring (13.8 ppg), steals (2.5 spg) and three-pointers (43) in 2007-08. Prince finished second among team leaders in the assist and rebounding categories with 2.8 handouts and 5.2 boards per game.

Prince was named to the third team Associated Press All-American team at season’s end and also was a member of the Greensboro Regional all-tournament squad. She, too, is making a hit on the RU record book. Currently ranked third in career three-point field goal percentage (.362), Prince is ranked tenth in three-pointers made with just two seasons under her belt.

The BIG EAST Conference is represented by eight players, the most of any conference. Connecticut placed three players on the squad while Louisville, Marquette and Pittsburgh had one representative each.
