SPMsportpage recently had the opportunity to talk to Chicago Sky reserve guard K.B. Sharp, to discuss her role with the team and her plans to help propel the Sky into the 2008 playoffs.

Sharp, a Cincinnati grad, was drafted in the second round in 2003 by the New York Liberty, where she spent two seasons before being waived. Sharp was signed as a free agent by the Indiana Fever in 2006, where she quickly became one of the top players in the bench rotation. Although Sharp was re-signed with Indiana March 25th, she was traded to Chicago May 14th in exchange for 6-4 center Bernadette Ngoyisa.

SPM: Are you doing anything different with your game now that you are with a different team this season?

KBS: No, not really. My role is the same; I’m a back-up point guard, so I come in, bring energy off the bench, run the team and create opportunities for the team and give the point guard a break.

SPM: Did you see the trade coming or was it out of the blue?

KBS: It was out of the blue, but this is a business. I wasn’t mad, but it was surprising.

SPM: What is it that you feel you need to do to help Chicago be a playoff team this season?

KBS: I definitely think we need a lot of energy coming off the bench. We’re a young team and I am a veteran -- I’m in my fifth year now -- and trying to give whatever leadership I have to help everybody out

SPM: Are you planning to return overseas again in the off season?

KBS: I’m going to the same team back in France. (Aix-en-Provence of the of LFB)

SPM: Finally, the question everyone wants to ask, but does not have the courage to do so, did you get any new tats in the off season?

KBS: No, I didn’t, but I’ll wait until the break for a new one.

Some Fun Facts:

K.B. Stands for Kristen Brooke

Sharp has a twin brother, Kory

K.B. still holds career records for the Cincinnati Bearcats for assists (623), games played (126) and minutes played (4.339).
